There is no doubt that United is desperately in need of a quality defender following the lugubrious performances of the current defenders during the last Premier league campaign.
It has been widely reported that the Club is desperately in search of quality defenders and rumors have been flying on air that the Club was heavily linked with Napoli Defender, Koulibaly, but the Naples reportedly rejected £90m for the defender, declaring that the Senegalese player is not for sale at any amount.
Shortly after United was dealt with Koulibaly transfer blow, United immediately switched their attention to Leicester City and England star defender, Harry Maguire, but the stubborn Foxes slapped a heavy price tag on their most priced assets signaling that the Club was not ready to sell the star defender.
The same stance had been maintained by the Foxes' bosses that they are not ready to cash in on the defender at any moment.

Just few days ago, media vendor, Marca, radio station and a popular Journalist in Spain hinted that 'United was close to signing' Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.
The Mirror, meanwhile, have been among the sources to link MUFC with Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, with the club said to have made a £70m bid for the 19-year-old.
The United faithfuls were immediately thrown into frenzy and ecstatic moment on hearing this good news, as if the news would last for eternity.
But few hours after, it was evidently reported by Sky Sport News that 'United rules out move for Matthijs de Ligt'.
The reason for the refusal to sign Matthijs de Ligt was not disclosed to the public and Club fans. But predictably, his agent, Mino Raiola, has been tipped to become a stumbling block in the transfer.
As things are going, with the time frame and competition in the transfer window, United will be forced to cough out a mouthwatering amount to sign any of the three defender as the Club prepares for a rebuilding process under current boss, Solskjaer.
